Who Needs a Discount, anyhow?

You can't go anywhere these days without seeing 'senior discounts.' The elderly get breaks for train tickets, plane tickets, car rentals... they get discounts at restaurants, amusement parks, and state parks.... they get cheap cruises and concert tickets....and while I harbor no resentment, I can't help dwell on the irony. Senior citizens, as a group, have more money than any other single demographic. That's right. The group that has the most discounts, is also the group that needs it the least! Children and teens are by far the poorest group, and while sometimes nominal discounts are meted out to the 12-and-under crowd, they are slim pickin's compared to what is bestowed upon the gray and balding masses. You have to appreciate the irony.
